SGU Knowledge Bowl is held in the second term of each academic year and sees secondary schools competing to earn top honours for their schools. The competition was developed by St. George’s University (SGU) and Community Channel 6 (CC6) in association with the Ministry of Education to encourage and facilitate healthy academic exchange between the secondary schools. The competition features teams of third, fourth and fifth form students who are tested primarily on the content of Caribbean Secondary Examinations Council (CSEC) syllabi in the areas of science, information technology, the arts and humanities. Recognising that excellence speaks to a broad knowledge base, students are also expected to have an understanding of Geography, Spanish, Bible Knowledge, Culture, Sport and Current Affairs.
While SGU and Flow are the two primary partners in the production of the competition, the corporate support of the Grenada Co-operative Bank and NEWIM Insurance has been integral. Additional support provided by Glenelg, La Sagesse Nature Centre, Petite Anse Hotel, Duty Free Caribbean Holdings, Ribena, Colombian Emeralds International, La Source Resort and Spa, Kool System, Digicel and Grenada Postal Corporation must be highlighted. The involvement of these corporate partners has been integral to the success of the SGU Knowledge Bowl and is testimony of their commitment to community development.
The entire season of the SGU Knowledge Bowl will be re-broadcast every Tuesday and Thursday on Community Channel 6.
