Short Story
Deeqa Mohamud (centre) receives Future Physician Award.
Five SGU 5th Term students were honored on November 30 at the Fifth Term Awards held at Adams Hall, St. George’s University. This year, for the first time ever, two students received the Achievement Award for Outstanding Performance in BSCE I: Kimberly Lally and Taj Rahman tied with the highest scores in this exam. Also, Rochelle Rock topped the BSCE II exam and was presented with the Achievement Award for this accomplishment. A third award, the Future Physician Award, also called the Golden Stethoscope Award, was presented to Deeqa Mohamud for being the top academic performer in clinical skills. The White Coat Award was presented to Paget Allis for best typifying the White Coat ideals of humanism and professionalism.
Provost, Dr. Allen Pensick and Dean of Students, Dr. C.V. Rao addressed the class at the ceremony. Dr. Pensick congratulated the students and advised them to ‘always continue the learning process.’ Dr. Rao added his congratulations and commended the class on their collective BSCE scores. He told them to always remember that interpersonal and communication skills are important keys to success.
The students will now commence two years of clinical training, after the successful completion of which they will receive their degrees. We wish the class continued success.
