Title: Recognition of Excellence in the School of Veterinary Medicine
By Line

Short Story
On Friday, November 18, 2011, distinguished guests, faculty, staff and students of St. George’s University’s School of Veterinary Medicine (SGUSVM), gathered at the Bourne Lecture Hall to recognize and honor excellence in service and outstanding work ethics at its fifteenth awards ceremony. The tradition of recognizing excellence in the School of Veterinary Medicine began six years ago with an awards ceremony in the Spring 2005 term, and a similar ceremony has been hosted each term since then.

The Master of Ceremonies for the event was Dr. Rolf Larsen and the ceremony began with an introduction by Dr. Tara Paterson, Chair of the SVM Awards Committee, and welcome remarks by Dr. Raymond Sis, Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine. Following these opening remarks, a slideshow was presented by SVM student, Kelly Summerhayes-Greenfield, which captured picturesque moments and memorable occasions throughout the term.
Full Story
The slideshow was followed by the celebration and recognition of the faculty, staff, and students, who distinguished themselves in research, teaching, service, and ongoing commitment to the School of Veterinary Medicine. Sixth term students who will pursue their fourth-year clinical training in the upcoming year at SGUSVM’s affiliated schools in the U.S.A., U.K., Canada, and Australia were also recognized. For the sixth term students, the ceremony marked their last official term on the island of Grenada, which made the ceremony bitter-sweet.

Award recipients were nominated and voted for by SGUSVM faculty, staff and students. This term, thirty-one different awards were presented to faculty and staff who demonstrated outstanding service and commitment to SGUSVM and to students who demonstrated high levels of academic achievement, professionalism and outstanding work ethics. In addition to certificates, some recipients were also presented with dinner certificates, dive certificates, and cheques for various amounts.

The SGUSVM expresses heartfelt thanks to all of its sponsors for their contributions and support, and to the Awards Committee, for a job well done. To all of the awards recipients, congratulations!
