Title: SGU HR Spreads Cheer for the Holiday Season
By Line

Short Story
The Human Resource Department at St. George’s University invited staff to its first ever ‘Open Day’ on December 14 and 15. Visitors were warmly welcomed to the HR office, which was tastefully decorated with the colors of the season, by HR staff dressed in Santa-inspired garb. Delicious treats awaited, including Grenadian favourites of the season: sorrel, ginger beer and fruit cake. Staff had a fun time eating, drinking, mingling and making merry. Open Day was very well received by staff who said that it was very thoughtful and that they felt appreciated. One staff member expressed: “I think this is highly commendable and it really is a great gesture.”

LeslieAnn Sylvester, Recruitment Administrator at HR said: “We really wanted to spread some joy and holiday cheer and to show people the warmer side of HR. We find that many of our staff have the misguided idea that HR is a place of negativity, where people go to be disciplined. We are trying to change that whole concept. We want people to feel comfortable coming to HR: they can pop by for advice, for help with an issue or even just to say hello.” HR hopes to make Open Day an annual event.
