St. George’s University, in its 35th year of anniversary celebrations experienced several firsts. Following AVMA COE accreditation in 2011, the School of Veterinary Medicine received its largest incoming class this semester, and the School of Arts and Sciences welcomed an entering class 40% of whom came from countries outside of Grenada.
This year, the School of Arts and Sciences had a total new intake of 154 students, with 102 Grenadians, 25 international students and 27 Caribbean nationals.Students came from Dominica, Trinidad, St.Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica, the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, St.Vincent, St.Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Canada, South Korea, Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
This growth in Caribbean admissions marks a significant milestone in the School of Arts and Sciences, coupled with a 12% increase in entering students from the fall of 2011. Colin Dowe, the Assistant Dean of Enrolment Planning, states, “The richness of an education is in part due to the cross fertilization of diverse ideas. St. George's University celebrates its multiculturalism, recognizing that this enables an environment for valuable lessons both inside and outside of the classroom.

In keeping with the tagline ‘Think Beyond’, it is the fervent commitment of the University to provide a truly international and multifaceted educational experience that transcends the Caribbean. To ensure the realization of this vision, “The University continues to work diligently to ensure that tertiary education is not only available but accessible to students in the sub-region. Over the last year, we have bolstered our efforts and recruitment strategies to encourage and motivate persons towards achieving their lifetime career goals and aspirations,” stated Mrs. Marcelle Strachan-Mitchell in the Office of Enrolment Planning.
Mrs.Strachan-Mitchell attests that “Amidst growing global economic and social challenges, it is our sincere hope that persons will not only see the importance of obtaining a tertiary education but more so realize the significance of thinking beyond."
St.George’s University School of Arts and Sciences offers its undergraduate students a broad-based education via a four-year program which lays a durable foundation for critical and independent thinking in a multicultural era.
Undergraduate degree programs are offered in the field of life sciences, business, management information systems, information technology, medical sciences, and psychology. Upon successful completion, a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is conferred. To date, St. George’s University has granted undergraduate degrees to over 500 students, several of whom hold senior positions in companies throughout the Caribbean.
