Short Story
During the time that I was completing my Master’s Degree in 1999 and visited SGU during a holiday to Grenada, I was drawn to this amazing institution. I returned to Grenada regularly, falling in love with the waterfalls, beaches, rainforest and finally my husband!

I am delighted to be working as an Associate Professor for St. George’s University. I am very excited about the opportunity to interact with a diverse community of students; to continue my studies and to make contributions to conferences. My time here, I hope, will lead me to one day becoming a full Professor. I had previously taught in the UK for 16 years and I completed my doctoral studies in education in 2008. I started at Brunel but followed my supervisor to Nottingham & Trent from where I graduated.
Full Story
I moved here in February and my daughter (also married to a Grenadian) and granddaughter moved here in 2009. A second granddaughter was born this year. I have two sons and two granddaughters still living in Pinner & Northwood, North West London, and an elder daughter who currently lives on a yacht in Turkey. They are all regular visitors to Grenada and my eldest son enjoys scuba diving.

In the last 4 months I have really enjoyed teaching language and study skills with the students in SAS and have found them to be very motivated. I have enjoyed meeting staff from other faculties and have joined with DES in providing presentations on citation and referencing. I have thoroughly enjoyed the get-together for the marriage of Dr. MacDonald (listening to the amazing music of talented staff members). I have been to a lecture given by a visiting artist and enjoyed the beginning of a cultural festival. I unfortunately missed the carnival this year but intend to be here next summer to see Grenada have fun.

In the UK I gained a Diploma in the teaching of Hatha yoga and taught part-time for two years. This gave me a great deal of mental strength and determination to support both yoga students and students in education. The focus necessary to strengthen the mind and body enhances every area of life. At some point I intend to continue with the practice in a small way in order to retain the valuable, supportive skills.

Although I shall return regularly to the UK, I hope to travel extensively in this area and also in the US and South America. I have tried scuba diving, which I would like to continue and maybe take a flying lesson or two.
